We inherited an overgrown rock garden behind the house and wanted to make it
a nice place to relax with a little more privacy than we had back there. As
Bogey said in Casablanca, "Louis, this could be the start of something
special." Anyway, we thought a
"walled"
English garden would be nice there. It has taken two years to watch
everything and see which plants were "weeds" and which were wildflowers or
perennials. We added more shrubs, a bench, a garden angel, lots more
plants, latticework and an archway. The daffodils were from a neighbor's
yard in Morganton that collected bulbs. We carefully transplanted them a long
time ago and waited until they multiplied enough to divide again. The
Jack-in-the Pulpits and Carolina Lilies were native wildflowers that just
came up.
