Free Spirits: News From The Tiki Porch

Vacation photo from Pennsylvania farm country (the picture shows Rahn "working the land" on the old farm).

How does an artist from Ocean Isle Beach end up in snow country? After ten years on the Brunswick County Coast we moved to the mountains  to spend more time with our families. Most of the boxes are finally unpacked and we're ready to begin new adventures in Western North Carolina.  We're looking forward to learning to appreciate the Blue Ridge Mountains as much as we did the Coastal Carolina communities that we grew to love. We'll try to post updates on our excursions from time to time. The Kindred Spirits Online Gallery will feature photographs and artwork inspired by both areas.

Favorite food for gathering with friends on the Tiki Porch is anything spicy with garlic, grilled, and of course anything creole or cajun. That brings us to a favorite drink which is anything cold. Timberley likes her iced tea southern style SWEET with lots of sugar and lemon. Rahn, a Southerner with Northern roots, likes mildly sweetened tea,  although his northern relatives prefer it unsweetened.

The latest sounds from the Tiki Porch come from Mark Knopfler (several great duets), Lucien Barbarin and the Palm Court Swingsters (New Orleans style jazz), Nickel Creek,  the soundtrack from Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Gillian Welch, and Wings Greatest Hits.  And of course, Eric Clapton's Blues,  Doc and Richard Watson's Third Generation Blues, James Taylor's Hourglass and the new CD gift from James' recent concert tour which was great by the way.
